Scope Management Tip

In reference to Scope Management, if you use my CHAIR log (CHAIR = change, action item, issues, risks) then you will be able to manage scope successfully.

The purpose of the log is to organize events that will occur in your project. During your status meetings, spend some time reviewing the CHAIR log.

You will need to have escalation procedures and a process to manage items that are escalated if the stakeholders who attend the status meeting do not resolve the items in the log.

When change requests are submitted, keep track of them in the CHAIR log. Review the status of the change request with your stakeholders during the status meeting. Usually an executive committee will need to approve changes if they impact the project's cost, time, or deliverable.
